ミック。ジャガーが"This has got to be the largest collection of old English musicians ever assembled in Madison Square Garden,"と表現したほどのブルース・スプリングスティーンがオープナーになってしまうほどの、そうそうたるメンバーです。このようなベネフィット・コンサートにローリング・ストーンズとして出演したのも珍しいし、とにかくコラボが多いのが特徴です。
番組の視聴は日本の場合、３局で可能とのことでしたので、早速fox movieを６８０円で契約して、１２月１４〜１５日深夜にあった放送を予約して、土曜日に視聴しました。これだけのLineupとwhoの映像を６８０円で見られるのは、安い物です。ところが番組HPには「完全放送」とうたってあるものの、実際はかなり編集されていました、Roger Wartersも７曲演奏が放送は１曲のみ。The Who も７曲演奏がwho are youの１曲のみで、がっかりしました。これから見る予定のある方は十分、注意してください。６時間程度、実際の番組があったのが、４時間３０分に編集されているようです。他の２局についても同様の放送時間ですので、中身は一緒だと思われます。現在youtubeで見れるのはBaba とPinball Wizard,See Me Feel Me,Who Are Youの演奏のみのようです。Who 以降も注目の出演者、コラボがありましたが、見る気がしなくなってしまいました。
ネットで見るWhoの演奏自体は評判がよいようです。NBC.news.comでも投票でもWhoは１位になっています。
演奏の全体像がが分からない中で、評価のしようもありませんが、今回については珍しい出演者、コラボが多くありましたので、そちらの方に注目が集中してしまったような感があります。編集をしたのは日本でなくて、アメリカのテレビ局です。ストーンズは全曲、ポール・マッカトニーもおそらく全曲なのに国際向けでフーは１曲でいいと判断されたようです。ライブをしていない時間帯（被害の映像の紹介、コメント等）もかなりありましたので、音楽にもっと集中した編集をしてもらいたかった。コラボが多いのもただの偶然でなくて、ストーンズの最近のライブでもクラプトンが出たようにクラシック・ロックのこれからの生き残る道なのかと考えさせられました。
